Fire Fighting

The Chenango Forks Fire Company responds to any type of fire emergency that takes place in our district. These include structure fires, vehicle fires, brush/wildland, and any other type of fire. We continuously train year round to keep our skill proficient for any type of fire we may encounter. We have three vehicles that are used for active fire suppression. Squad 44, Pumper Tanker 44, and Brush 44.

Rescue

Vehicle Rescue

We carry two sets of vehicle extrication equipment, one set on Squad 44 and one set on Rescue 44. We have numerous individuals trained in vehicle rescue and cover two busy State routes.

Low Angle Rope Rescue

We carry rope rescue equipment that allows us to remove injured individuals from precarious situations. We have numerous members trained in Rope Rescue and can begin the rescue evolutions upon arrival on the scene.

Water Rescue

With the convergence of two rivers in our district, we are equipped to attempt rescues from the shore with throw ropes and PFDs for our rescuers.

EMS

The Chenango Forks Fire Company also has a Medical First Responder Team that consists of Basic EMTs, Certified First Responders and CPR trained Firefighters. We are a State recognized team that allows us to respond to all medical emergencies in our district. We carry various equipment that allows us to treat any issues we may come across.

Service Calls

The Chenango Forks Fire Company also responds to numerous service calls to help out the citizens of our district. From removing water from flooded basements, to helping rescue livestock from various situations. We will cover any 911 call that does not fall into any other type of emergency category.

Fire Prevention

The Chenango Forks Fire Company participates in many fire prevention activities. In the past, our members have installed smoke and CO2 detectors in homes of fire district residents and spoken to children of all ages from toddlers to teenagers about fire safety and shown them our gear and equipment.

Fire Police

The Chenango Forks Fire Company responds to any calls for assistance that require fire police. A majority of our volunteers, have taken the state required fire police class and have been sworn in by the Town Clerk. Our fire police could be called for traffic control, crowd control, and assisting law enforcement with many different activities.
